Heat Transfer Dyes for Synthetics

$10.00 supply fee

Students will learn various methods of painting and printing heat-transfer dyes onto paper then iron them on to synthetic fabrics, creating wonderful textures and patterns that are not usually possible when dyeing or painting directly on fabric.

Supplies:

  • White or light colored synthetic fiber fabrics, polyester lining, sheers, synthetic velvets etc.20 or more notebook page sized pieces
  • A good supply of copy or computer paper
  • Hair dryer
  • Plastic plate for palette and cup to hold water
  • Various paint brushes including foam brushes
  • Iron & ironing board or towel
  • Paper towels
  • Paper scissors
  • 6 empty film canisters or small jars with lids

Optional supplies:

  • Baking parchment or teflon pressing sheet
  • 8x10 piece of glass, edges taped for safety
  • soft rubber brayer
